A cup of tea on a cold winter's day...

It is blustery outside today! I'm happy to be sitting in my warm apartment, with a cup of tea cradled in my hands. The baby girl is sleeping peacefully in her swing right now. Sigh...I'm drinking in this moment.:-)

I weighed in on Monday, as per the challenge! I'm down 1.5lbs. I totally don't deserve to be, but I'm taking it. I figure that if I had exercised last week, and hadn't had the nacho/cookie binge on Saturday, the loss would have been even higher. Either way, Week 1/27's goal has been met! And I'm determined to be down next week.

Today was my first outing with the baby. Sounds strange, huh? We've been out with hubby in the car (to visit the grandparents, and to the doctor's, etc.). But before today, I haven't taken her out properly. Unfortunately, it happens to be one of the coldest days of winter! We went to a baby circle meeting (where they sing songs and rhymes), and we managed to make it there and back relatively unscathed. She did freak out about 20 minutes after we got there, but I managed to deal with it. She's probably too young for the songs and rhymes right now, but it was nice to get out, and it really built my confidence.

I will admit that I was pretty stressed the entire time, since it was such a new experience for both of us. I think my adrenaline must have kept me going, because by the time we got home, I wanted to collapse with fatigue. First thing I did (after minding the bubs) was warm up a tall glass of milk, and opened up my package of 2 organic ginger snap cookies. I love comfort food!

Tomorrow, we're going to visit my friend Alison and her little girl. Her daughter is two months older than my baby, but it'll be fun. We're having Valentine's tea!

I think I'll finish this tea, and have a nap. I might even sneak my daughter under the covers with me.;-) It's my latest indulgence - snuggling with her. I love opening my eyes and seeing here there with me. I know that one day, those moments will be but a distant memory...so I'm enjoying them while I can.

Some recent pictures to follow when I get a chance.

If you're Canadian, stay warm!

CONGRATS on the loss! Keep up the amazing work :)

I've never had C sleep in the same bed as me, I'm too worried that I'd roll over on him.

you know, the idea of going out with a baby for the first time in the city freaks me out. i see all these women, pushing their carriages all over the sidewalk, but the subways are the worst. they must always find somebody to help them lift the carriage up and down the stairs if there isn't a (working) elevator! and then no room in the subway car! so daunting.
