Checkin' in

Thanks for all of your lovely and supportive comments! It feels wonderful to know that you're all rallying behind me in blogland. I mustn't let you down then, shall I?

Today, marks week two of the challenge. I should weigh in. But I'm scared to. Isn't that weird? I've been working hard all week - and was even excited to weigh in yesterday. But today, I'm totally scared. What if I haven't lost any weight? What if I've gained weight? I know that the scale is just a number, yada yada. But in some ways, it's also like the reward for my efforts. And I don't want to be disappointed.

I'm not sure what to do. Weighing in weekly will keep me accountable. Weighing in monthly will probably give me better results. I've never been a slave to the scale, not sure why it's freaking me out now. Maybe because I'm actually trying this time?

The week was relatively good, except for one dinner at my mom's house on the weekend. Can never resist her food!;-) I also met the challenge's exercise goals of 150 minutes a week. I know it doesn't sound like much - but some days, with the baby, it can be tough! I will definitely be upping my goal this coming week.

So, I'm off to engage in a stare-down with my evil scale. I'm thinking that some separation might be the best medicine for our relationship, but we'll see...

Weighing in always gets me anxious too. All the best with the evil one. Good luck on week 2.

Hi Sonya!! Do not be afraid of the scale. It is just a number, and only one small way to judge the progress that you are making. You have had a wonderful week. Getting in the 150 minutes of exercise is a huge accomplishment. (I didn't do it!) And you should be proud of yourself. You are making lots of little changes that are improving your health. Keep doing the work you know needs to be done and the numbers on the scale will be forced to fall in line eventually!! :)

p.s. You rock.

i've done weekly weigh-ins for quite some time but did daily ones for a while and found it interesting... i've read about people taking an average and using that number as their weekly weigh-in instead... i think you should do whatever you're comfortable with... you're doing a great job! :o)

I never have a problem getting on the scales, my problem is staying off them, and not letting what they say affect the rest of my day.. if I gain I am usually in a shitty for the day! Good luck when you do get on them, I am sure they will be nice to you as you have been a good girl!

You go show that scale who's the boss!

Like Kim says, the number on the scale is just ONE indicator of how you are doing. Don't let it freak you out too much. Yeah, right! LOL

oops made a mistake...lol what I was trying to say is...I know exactly how you feel...I am petrified of my scales one minute they're down and the next they're up but they are only ONE indicator of how you are doing...Take a deep breath and you will probably surprise yourself.

I hope the scale shows a good loss.
Sometimes the scale can show fakes the gain.

GOOD LUCK!!! (Although you do't need it because you are rocking this challenge!)
It's only a number and sometimes when you expect a gain, you see a loss and sometimes when you expect a loss you see a gain. The scale can be an evil, tricky thiing, or it can be your best friend. Don't let it dictate how you feel about yourself or your weight loss goals! You know how you feel in your own skin, you don't need a scale to tell you how to feel! Use other measures such as achieveing your workout goals, how your clothes fit, and how you FEEL about your body to judge how you are doing on yuor journey.

Ok I think I have ranted long enough. Take care and have fun!
