No more walks in the park....

Sorry it's taken me so long to haul my butt back onto my blog! Definitely not intentional, other than life being busy. And you all know how that is!;-)

My exercising has been pathetic this last week. I got my 150 minutes in (by walking), but I was really hoping to step things up. I'm most disappointed about my beloved Stroller Fit class, though. My little munchkin has settled into a nap routine that is exactly when my class starts. At first, I tried to fight it by thinking that if I put her in the stroller, she'd sleep peacefully throughout - oblivious to her mama pouring buckets of sweat and running like a madwoman through the park. Absolutely no way. I experimented with this notion a couple of times, only to have my little one MELT DOWN in the middle of my class. It's hard enough squatting, kicking, punching, and running up and down stairs without having a baby screaming in your ear. At one point, I was physically carrying her through the park (and pushing my stroller at the same time) - no easy feat, seeing as I felt like I was lugging around lead.

Thus, I've retreated. She won. (Why do I sense that this is going to happen a trillion more times in her lifetime?). She happily sleeps on Thursday mornings without crazy fits of rage, and gives me lots of sweet smiles when she wakes up. It's wonderful. But I reallllly miss my class. It was torture, but good torture.;-)

So, I'm going to go back to long walks with her during the day, and maybe doing some weights in the evenings after my husband gets home. Can I just say something? What the HECK was I doing with all my time before the baby came? It was SOOOO easy to strap on a pair of trainers and go to the gym whenever I wanted. Really, there was no excuse. I can't believe what a logistical challenge it is now. The stuff you take for granted is incredible!

As for the diet. I've had some good days, and some so-so days. My cupboards have been completely purged of anything non-diet friendly, and it can be frustrating sometimes. I know it's good for me, but those days when I'd literally kill for an itty-bitty piece of chocolate, it sucks when the cupboards are bare. But I know full well that there's no such thing as itty-bitty when it comes to chooclate, so it's all for the best!

I finally sucked it up and got on the scale. Down 0.5lb last week, and again this week. Nothing to really shout from the rooftops about or anything - but we're travelling in the right direction, at least. Two more lbs until my pedicure - my feet are dying for them.

I'm a big list person - I enjoy checking things off as they get done. It feels very satisfying to me. This weight loss thing has been on my list for far too long now. I just want to check it off, already! (Patience isn't my strongsuit, you see). I gotta keep moving ahead so that I can cross it off my list for good. The battle continues.:-)

It most certianly is a challenge to get out with a baby. Don't stress too much about it. Do what you can. Down is down not matter how small, it is moving in the right direction. Its all about consistency, time and patience. Remember to be happy with small accomplishments, they are progress.

Wow, I don't know how you do it. I'm not a mum so I have no real idea how it is but I just about cope working out and going to work never mind looking after a baby. Mums are fantastic! Hey don't say your 1/2 lbs loss is nothing to shout about, you have lost it and you deserve a pat on the back, keep going and well done

Vics x

A loss is a loss is a loss! Congrats on the 1/2 lbs! Sorry the class didn't work out, but I can imagine it would be tough with a little one...

Do not knock being down a half a pound! That's two sticks of butter!! :) You are doing great Sonya. Slow and steady wins the race. :)

Shame about baby wanting to sleep when you want to go to fit class, typical! I am a list person too! Good luck ticking off the weight issue one day.... though if you are like me it will be a never ending challenge!

I had to quit strollercize for the exact same reason - they certainly show us who's boss right?

Heh, I share the same inpatience and would love to get this "TO-DO" item off my list.

Congrats on the loss!

Your logistical nightmare just guilt-tripped my childless self into going to the gym :)

Congratulations on the loss. Purging the cabinets was the right thing to do - but I know that "I'd kill for a stray M&M" feeling well :)

Those 1/2 pound losses add up to big losses in the long run, so congratulations on your weight loss.

Sorry about your stroller class. It's amazing that little babies, under 20 or 15 pounds can dictate so much power, but they do. I remember when my 10 year old was an infant, he always seemed to have a crying fit, just as our entree arrived when hubby and I ate out.
