Day Four: chugging along

So I learned something yesterday. Saying that you're going to exercise, or wanting to exercise are totally different from actually exercising. Really, it boils down to putting your money where your mouth is. Because let me tell you: after the kids went to bed yesterday, after a very long day, I was hungry and grumpy and tired. The thought of lacing up my shoes and going to the gym was more than I could bear.

However, I did it. Not without incident.

For some reason, I ran out of the door quickly enough to forget my water bottle. I also forgot to eat something. I think it's because once the motivation finally hit me, I wanted to get there as fast as possible before it disappeared again.

I killed 30 minutes on the elliptical, but it felt harder than usual. When I stopped to get off, I felt like I was going to faint! I pushed myself with another five minutes on the stair climber before the dizziness overcame me. Then I realized that I forgot to eat. Wobbly legged, I managed to make it out of the gym and home - but I was in rough shape. Hubby had dinner waiting for me, so my blood sugar managed to make a recovery.:-)

Lesson learned for next time, believe me!

I also almost skipped out on my booty-hop class this morning. My son was sleeping (and had fallen asleep about five minutes before we were meant to leave). Now if you're a mom (or even if you aren't!), you know the golden rule: never wake a sleeping baby. I debated and debated on what to do. If I didn't wake him, he'd have a great nap and would bestow me with happiness for the rest of the day. Waking him would mean that we'd go to my class, but he'd probably be cranky the entire time and I wouldn't get a great workout.

Some parents out there would probably flame me, but I woke him up. I need to exercise, and I needed to put myself first. No harm came of it (he's napping happily now), but I did feel bad. Still, it all goes back to compromising a bit along this journey - if I can't prioritize some of my needs, this weight is going to be very difficult to get off.

Class was good, I grooved to some good music and hummed some tunes on the way home.:-) I feel so, so great.

You are AWESOME!! I am so proud of you for both accomplishments!

And you're right - it's all about putting your money where your mouth is. I've had a baby attached to my b00b for 24 hours a day the past 3 days so unfortunately I haven't been doing so great, and making so many excuses it's incredible. But you are getting me motivated so opefully I will have good news sooner or later.

You are WONDERFUL!! See, I said once you put your mind to something you are an incredible force :)
