Day 52: Dusting off those shoes

This week has been a bit er, slow, in the exercise department.

I had great intentions of going out for my run yesterday, but completely underestimated how wiped out I would be after dealing with the kids all day. I don't have both of them with me on my own very often, so it's always a challenge. A joy (for some parts of the day!), but a challenge too. Anyway, the thought of lacing up my shoes and heading out after hubby got home was more than I could bear.

I was supposed to have a playdate today with a friend of mine. I decided to bail, and go to an exercise class instead. Ha. This class was on the other side of town, and took me almost an hour to get there! And of course, an hour to get back home. Was it worth it? Yes. It was great to feel myself moving again. Two hours of commuting for an hour of exercise. But I read somewhere the other day that for each hour of exercise we do, we add two hours to our life-span. I'm not sure what that means in terms of the math, but I know I did the right thing!

The other decision that I've made is to not weigh myself this week. I have a feeling I maintained (or even slightly gained) this week. I can just feel it. I don't need any more discouragement, so I'm going to weigh in at the end of next week. I know that sounds like a cop-out, but I don't think I want to feel like a hamster running on a wheel right (and going nowhere!) right now.

Sigh. I know what I have to do to get the weight loss moving. Eat less, move more. Simple. Sometimes it's easier said than done, but I'm still determined to keep trying.

i love that you know that the weigh-in may derail and therefore you just aren't doing it! kudos!!

it means that for the hour you exercised, you lived long enough to drive there and back ;) plus after looking after little ones all day, some time by yourself in a car is a nice place to reflect! they are a joy indeed but oh man, when did we lose all that energy?!?!
And not a cop-out, rather keeping the encouragement going for another week! You'll push past it!
