The verdict

I'm doing it!

Thanks to all of you for weighing in. (no pun intended).

One of my goals this year was to cross the finish line of a 5K race. I'll probably run half of it, which isn't what I had hoped for. But it's better than not running it at all. Instead of looking at this from an "all or nothing" point of view, I'm just going to give it my best. It really represents my views on my journey to better health. There's no such thing as being perfect. It's just about doing the best we can, step by step. I am going to apply the same principle to this race.

In some ways, it's a relief that I'm not trying to finish within a certain time. My goal is to step over the finish line. It seems less daunting somehow. Funny how I thought this would be the "check-point" along my running journey. But now, I'm looking at it as the beginning. It's great motivation to continue running this winter (even if it's on the dreadmill) so that I can pick up in the Spring and try my hand at another race.

That's it! So please send me a little luck on Sunday morning. I'm going to need it! I'll post back when it's done.

Thank you so much!

That's great news Sonya! Can't wait for the recap! Of course, the weather just changed for us. It's sooooo cold! Dress warm and take it slow! Run slow and maybe you will run longer than you think!
Good Luck! You will do great!

Thinking of you this weekend, Sonya! Have a great time with your 5k tomorrow. Run, walk, skip, cartwheel, boogie... whatever keeps you movin' to that finish line!

I remember once I kept repeating to myself in a race: "All motion is forward motion." Just keep moving. You'll get there!

I can't wait to hear about it :-)
