Let me get one thing straight. My counting calories is not about being on a stringent plan, or a straightened arrow. It's about knowledge, so that I can make better choices when I'm eating. What an eye-opening experience! I logged all my calories yesterday, and managed to eat a total of 1750. Probably still a bit higher than it should be, but I think it's the right level for a nursing mom.
I'm not even all that grumpy about it. I think it's because we ate dinner at 6pm yesterday. Sure, I was starving by 8:30, but I had an apple and some cottage cheese. My worst time (and I mean, my worst) is between 2pm and 6pm. I can't stop grazing!
Another NSV yesterday. My daughter's Hallowe'en candy is still lying around. (Don't worry, it's being shipped to my husband's office tomorrow). I managed to contain myself to a mini box of smarties (I think there are 8-10 in a box). Usually, this opens up pandora's box for me, and I go hog-wild! But I enjoyed the small indulgence and moved on. And I included that in my calorie count above.
I even managed to make the Southwest Quinoa salad for lunch today (a la Dreena Burton!), and it looks delicious.
And finally, something embarassing. I have been paying for a gym membership for the last 2-3 months and I've probably been a grand total of twice. What a waste of money! I have a gym in my condo building too (it's just smaller and not as nice). I've decided to take up some classes at the gym 2-3 times a week. So tonight, I'm going to try my hand at spinning! I've only done it once (a few years ago), and my experience was just so-so. But I think that boiled down to the instructor and music. Hopefully tonight will be a bit better.
Exciting day ahead. I'm getting my hair done this afternoon! In-laws are coming over to watch the baby so that I can escape for a couple of sweet hours. Can't wait!

you'll love spin sonya!!
and i think it's great your logging your calories just to see.
keep up the great work!
aww super! Totally awesome you were able to resist the Halloween candy...I sooo wasn't LOL!
I should've followed HG's advise, the "Give it away" LOL
Anyhow, I hope you enjoyed your class and also super nice of your inlaws to come and look after little one. Mine already watches my daughter 3 days a week so whenever I need time for myself it's a no go, no one is willing to watch her, but then again, when I'm off work I sorta want her around... and the calories seems totally good for a nursing Mom, gotta keep the kiddies in mind, right? Think of the good you're doing for baby too! :)
