The storm before the calm...

My head literally feels like it's going to fall off, with all this insanity in my life. I think the only thing keeping me going right now, is that I won't have to work beyond next Tuesday.

This course I'm teaching (on the side, ha!) has been an astronomical amount of work. The administrative burden is crazy. Unfortunately, the students are less than desirable. They are trying to cheat and cut corners at every opportunity. Last weekend, discovered 2 major cases of plagiarism. And now I have to spend hours dealing with it. And of course, there's always the bureaucracy at the university. It's just too much.

Since I'm trying to wrap up at my day job, things are equally busy. I'm scrambling to get things done as quickly as possible - the days are extremely intense. Plus, I'm trying to be mindful of keeping my stress levels in check, trying to eat in proper intervels, etc. It's just not easy!

The weeknights are filled with teaching, or going to aquafit or yoga. I know that the aquafit and yoga hardly count as "work" - but it's just another thing that I'm trying to keep up with, you know? And the last two weekends were fabulous with my baby showers - but they were crazy-busy! Our place hasn't been cleaned , laundry is piling up, and the fridge was devoid of groceries for a whole week.

This weekend, is our "pre-natal crash course"! Full days, both Saturday and Sunday. I'm looking forward to them - but hopefully I won't fall asleep with all this craziness inmy life! Then, Saturday night we need to go to a wedding reception. Tonight, I need to buy a birthday prezzie for my dad, and get my clothes ironed for the reception tomorrow night. And at some point, I need to prep for my class on Monday.

Phew. I really did bring all of this on myself, so I shouldn't complain...but what are blogs for?:-)

All this to say - starting next Wednesday, it's going to be CALM - finally. Maybe I'll have time to breathe. Maybe I'll even be able to sleep! Wonder what it'll be like going from one extreme to another?

Eating this week has been so-so. There was a nacho-fest with a friend from work one night. And since we've had no groceries, I've had to eat out a lot. Bleccch. Today for lunch, though, I bought the "Green Goddess" rice bowl. It's brown rice drizzled with tahini and tamari-ginger sauce, sprinkled with sunflower seeds, and topped with steamed broccoli, kale, and bok choy. There are also two pieces of marinated and grilled tempeh. How's THAT for healthy? I feel like a million bucks now. It's amazing how we really ARE what we eat.

My last pre-natal yoga class was yesterday - so I need to come up with a new exercise schedule for next week. I'm thinking of adding more aquafit in there!

Sorry for all my complaining - maybe I'm not even that busy. Being 8 months pregnant on a schedule like this is probably making me totally wonky!

Have a good weekend!

It's hard to eat healthy with no or not a lot of good food in the house.

Oh gosh Sonya, I teach at a University too and we've just been bogged down with about 5 cases of plagiarism too! As if being disappointed enough in the students isn't enough, there's all of the paperwork and additional hoo-ha of getting the University's Disciplinary committee involved... never mind that there's going-on-with-life to deal with as well!

I bet you can't wait until you can relax! You deserve it!

I think your handling it all really well, and I'm happy to hear that it will calm down soon.
Of course that's what blogs are for :)

Being busy is good, as long as you do take time to get at least 8 hours of sleep... or more, if you can, at night, every night.

Wow, I can't imagine the hormones running through your body and making things difficult at times. It will all be worth it though, when the baby is born and you get the sweet dumpling to dote one... You are such a hard-working gal, i don't know how you do it but you seem to do all the right things in the end.

I am sorry we didn't meet in Toronto, Sonya. It was hard coordinating everything given my family situation there... with the arrival Wednesday, the wedding Friday and the Sabbath Friday sundown to Saturday sundown and then leaving Sunday, it was through sheer luck that Carrie and Jim and i got to hang that one night! I hope to return and get to meet you AND your hubby and baby Sonya next time. I love Canada.

Yesterday I had a talk with my husband about exactly that - how freaking busy we have been. And we came to the conclusion that there will be no more entertaining, 5 hour shopping trips, babysitting etc... that we are going to use this time to relax and just spend quality time together before the REAL craziness appears.

Happy 33rd! :)
